Healing Hearts & Freeing Minds: Counseling Support
At WECO Uganda, we believe every person deserves a place where they feel safe, valued, and supported. Many individuals in our communities carry unseen burdens—trauma, grief, abandonment, and the long-term emotional effects of poverty and disease. Through our Counseling Support Program, we seek to provide a safe and compassionate space where children, youth, and families can begin the journey toward healing and renewed hope.
Masaka District, including our village of Luvule, carries a difficult history connected to the HIV/AIDS epidemic that deeply affected many communities around Lake Victoria. Over the years, families lost loved ones, children were left without parents, and entire households struggled to survive. While progress has been made, the emotional and psychological effects remain present today, particularly among children and caregivers who continue to face economic hardship and social challenges.
Restoring Hope Through Care and Support
Unresolved trauma can affect entire households and even shape the future of communities. By offering accessible counseling and emotional support, WECO Uganda is helping children feel heard, strengthening families, and encouraging healthier relationships. As individuals heal, they are better able to support one another, creating stronger and more hopeful communities for the next generation.
Through the Counseling Support Program, WECO Uganda offers individual counseling, family and marital counseling, trauma-informed care, and youth mentorship. These services provide guidance for those facing grief, abuse, anxiety, conflict, and other life challenges. By addressing emotional and psychological needs, the program helps individuals build resilience, strengthen relationships, and rediscover stability within their families and communities.
